Manager Arsène Wenger admits that he is confused as to why there is much doom and gloom amongst the fans when he believes that Arsenal are in a good position, taking into account everything that has been accomplished.
Yes, the club may be six points behind leaders Chelsea, and have just suffered another heavy defeat to one of their closest rivals, but Arsenal are in a strong position financially and the squad are still gaining experience.
With clubs such as Portsmouth and Crystal Palace going through difficult financial times, where we are in the world of football is perhaps not as bad as we often make it out to be.
And with the opportunity to claw back half of the six point gap between themselves and Chelsea tomorrow, some would even argue that the title race is just getting started.
Wenger said: "I do not understand [why the fans are being pessimistic]. We are six points off the [Premier League] leaders with 14 games to go.
"We are in a strong position and we have qualified for the Champions League [knockout stages].
"We are in a very healthy financial situation and we have a very young team compared to all the others.
"You can always be pessimistic, or you can always be optimistic.
"But if you analyse our situation realistically, you have many reasons to be optimistic.
"Don't forget the other clubs in England are big as well, and they invest more money than we do, and we are still there.
"I believe we are still in a very good position," said Wenger. "The result on Sunday will have an importance but no matter what happens we will fight until the last second of the season because you can see that everybody drops points.
"At the end of the day it could be down to the team that believes more than the others.
"We have an opportunity to turn up with a good performance [at Stamford Bridge].
"We are conscious that we were not at our level against United last Sunday and it is a good opportunity to forget about it and focus on the next one.
"I believe we have the unity, the desire, the spirit and I know that before this game there will be a lot of scepticism around us but I believe in my players and in their spirit. We will show that."
