Didier Drogba, once again, proved the main difference between Chelsea and Arsenal as the Gunners were beaten 2-0 at Stamford Bridge today.
If Arsenal had a striker of that quality (or a striker at all?) this could have been a more even outcome. Sadly, for all Arsenal's effort and possession, there was no end product.
Hardly surprising, but a definite improvement on last week's horrow show against United. You could at least make a case for us being unlucky this time round. Chelsea basically had two chances and got two goals.
I said before the game that the difference between us and the two sides sitting above us in the league is enormous, but after a pretty close game today I'm not so sure it would take that much work to catch up next season.
In fact, had van Persie been available, or Diaby and Bendtner a bit more match fit, we might even have been able to give them a bit more to worry about as soon as this season.
Sadly though, it's pretty clear that we'll be waiting at least another year for the league title. I still believe it will be close. Nine points is not an impossible gap considering the way Chelsea are dropping points, especially as they still have to go to Anfield and Old Trafford, as well as a few other tricky fixtures. We have the benefit of a better run-in, and I think we could still give them a thing or two to think about come the business end of the season.
It has to be said, of course - Chelsea are still boring. No manager seems to be able to change that. Packing their penalty area and looking to play on the break is not such an inspiring way to play at home. Then again, it works, and a bit more variation in our tactics might come in useful sometimes.
I don't feel there's much else to say about this game. We gave it the best we could and lost to a better side. It was surprisingly pleasant, considering the thrashing I was expecting.
No need to panic. The pressure's off. The big games are out of the way and no one is expecting anything from us. Suits me fine.
