Striker Robin van Persie has said that his recovery from a serious ankle surgery is "on schedule", and that there is a chance he might be fit towards the end of the season.
The Dutch international was ruled out for six months after suffering the injury in a friendly, though an initial diagnosis from the Dutch medical team said that it wasn't a serious injury.
An examination by Arsenal's own medical team revealed the true extent of the damage done to van Persie's ankle. Manager Arsène Wenger had previously commented that the club's main striker would be out for the rest of the season.
Speaking to the Sun, van Persie said: "At this point I can say that my recovery is right on schedule. The injury has been quite bad.
"I would however like to be part of the team's campaign in the later stages of the league, or if we are still there, in the Champions League."
