Midfielder Aaron Ramsey has spoken for the first time since his horrifying injury caused by Stoke City defender Ryan Shawcross, saying that he will return 'stronger'.
Ramsey suffered a double fracture to his right leg, and surgeons estimate that the recovery process will take approximately six to nine months.
In a statement issued via the official website, Ramsey said: "It is difficult for me to take it all in at the moment.
"I thought I had been progressing well so this is a real setback. It's hard to take.
"I am young and have time on my side. While it will take time for my leg to heal, I am determined and focused on overcoming this injury and hope to be back fitter and stronger than before.
"I remember what happened clearly and after the tackle went in I saw that my leg was broken and hanging at an angle.
"I have seen images of the aftermath of the collision but I don't want to dwell too much on the challenge as I can't change what has happened."
