There are reports today that Cesc Fabregas returned to full training with the squad yesterday, suggesting that the captain has perhaps recovered from his hamstring injury.
This is a huge boost for the team, as we missed a creative spark in the match against Hull City last weekend, even though Samir Nasri filled in nicely for his captain against Porto.
If Fabregas' fitness is still '50:50' for this weekend, I think we all prefer to have him on the bench at least, ready to be brought on should the match still be finely poised in the 60th minute.
The reports of Fabregas returning to training coincide with manager Arsène Wenger's assessment last week that the young Catalan could be fit to face West Ham.
Speaking before the match against Hull, Wenger said: "Fabregas has a good chance to be ready for next week [against West Ham]."
I think a lot of us are beginning to realise that our title run-in may be more difficult than we originally thought, and we'll need to be as close as possible to full strength in a London derby, and Fabregas' return does help us reach that.
