Penalty hero Manuel Almunia was pleased with the character Arsenal showed after beating West Ham on Saturday.
Arsenal won 2-0, but played the second half with ten men, and Almunia saved a crucial penalty from the visitors just before half-time.
The Spaniard believes the mentality in the Arsenal camp is strong, and the team did well to see out the game against the Hammers.
Speaking after the match, he told Arsenal TV Online: "This team is full of confidence, character, spirit and fight, and we showed it today in a very tough game.
"It is crucial to win this way. It shows we are at the top of the table to fight for the league."
Asked about his penalty-saving heroics, Almunia was modest and admitted he simply watched Diamanti's run-up closely until the last moment.
He said: "Sometimes you're luckly, sometimes you're not. [Diamanti] is a good penalty taker, I just waited until the last moment to react."
Arsenal went top after the game on Saturday, but Man Utd responded by beating Liverpool the following day. The goalkeeper was pleased, however, to see Chelsea drop points, and believes Arsenal will keep putting winning to put pressure on the other title contenders.
He added: "We will continue putting the pressure on them until the end of the season. It's all we can do."
