Emmanuel Eboue believes Thomas Vermaelen shouldn't have been sent off against West Ham.
The Belgian defender conceded a soft penalty and received a red card just before half-time, and Eboue admits his team-mate was disappointed with the referee's decision.
The 26-year-old was pleased, though, that Almunia saved the spot kick and that Arsenal continued to play well and dominate the game.
He told Arsenal TV Online: "The game was very difficult for us. We tried to win this game for Vermaelen because he was very disappointed, so now we are happy.
"When the referee gave the penalty we were very disappointed, but this is football, sometimes the referee can make a mistake, but we are happy because Almunia saved this penalty and after that we continued to play and continued to give our best.
Alex Song then dropped back from midfield to defence in Vermaelen's place, and Eboue believes the youngster has made great progress for Arsenal this season, due to the fact that he always gives his best for the team, whatever position he plays.
He said: "Alex Song is a very good player. For a long time he didn't play, but this season the boss has given him a chance.
"We are happy for him, because we can see on the pitch that he always tries to give his best. We want him to continue like this."
Since the Champions League draw, there has been a lot of attention on the mouth-watering tie between Arsenal and Barcelona, and Eboue is, in particular, looking forward to playing against former team-mate Thierry Henry.
He said: "Thierry is my older brother, when he was here he did many good things for me. I am so happy to play against him."
