Gaël Clichy believes Arsenal are making the most of their underdog status this season.
The Frenchman knows Arsenal were never favourites for the title, and that has allowed the team to play with less pressure.
The full-back admits that when Arsenal led the Premiership by five points in 2008, the pressure got to them, and prefers their position now of chasing the league leaders.
He told Arsenal TV Online: "Sometimes it's better to be behind the leaders, because when you are the leader all the pressure is on you.
"People have been doubting us because for four or five years we haven't won anything. If we do it this year it would be great because the team is young and people have been doubting us."
Clichy was also keen to say that the Arsenal players won't play with fear at St. Andrew's, the scene of their title collapse two seasons ago.
He said: "Everyone was talking about this game being the turning point of the season but I'm not really sure it was.
"This year is a new team, a new season. We will show people that this is just another game and whether we're playing Birmingham or Chelsea we just want the three points."
The 24-year-old went on to say that he is pleased with his recent improved form, admitting that he struggled a bit at the start of the campaign.
He said: "The start of the season was difficult because I was playing with pain. It was hard being away from the pitch for four months.
"When you're out for so long you need a few games to get 100% fit, but I think in the last few games I've played well. I haven't played a lot this season, so I think it's my job to bring something more to the team."
