Today we'll know one way or another. Win tonight and the League title's still on. Lose or draw, it's almost certain to be Chelsea's.
I love do or die situations – they're what football's really about. The moment when you find out how good you are, find out whether you can win something.
The last four seasons have been painful, because almost every-time we've had one of those situations we've come up short.
It's what we've had this year, in the defeats to Barcelona, to Man United and Chelsea. But in the Premier League, we're still in there.
And it all comes down to Tottenham.
You've got to love the extra drama that adds, amplifying the situation massively. Imagine – last minute, Sol Campbell rises at the back-post to head the winner. Imagine that!
Tottenham are in an interesting situation, and seeing how they play tonight is a big question. After the comic horror of their defeat against Portsmouth, and with Man City stretching away in the battle for fourth, they're losing reasons to play for, and fast.
We need to capitalise on that. We need to take the opportunity to stay in the league.
Make no mistake – we're limping towards the line. With no Fabregas, no Arshavin and no Gallas, we're down the three players in their peak years who are proven at the highest level. We can count on Big Sol, on Vermaelen, and on Sagna and Clichy. But the rest of the team who are out there haven't shown we can count on them, 100%, to go and win a game like this.
They need to fight. And they need to fight hard. It's not about performance now, it's about dragging our bruised and bloodied team over the line.
It shouldn't be about getting van Persie back out on the pitch.
But it might be. Could Robin come back and turn the game for us? Yes he can. One rocket blast could keep us in this. But I'd prefer it didn't.
I'd prefer it was the graft of the collective performance. The passion and the spirit.
Come on you Reds!
