Andrey Arshavin says that the team cannot be satisfied with third place, after targeting to finish top of the pile when the season started.
Effectively out of the title race after the Wigan defeat, we're now watching our backs and need to secure the final automatic Champions League qualification place.
The Russian international also stressed the need to end the trophy draught, saying that 'something needs to be done', hopefully that will lead to some much needed reinforcements in the close season.
Arshavin also conceded that the match against Man City this weekend would be too soon for him, but he should recover in time for Blackburn Rovers and Fulham.
He said: "We had hoped for more, so we can't be satisfied with third.
"I can only say that next season we must try to solve this problem. It exists, so therefore something must be done.
"The latest information says I should fully recover within a week, so on Saturday I won't be able to play.
"I hope to be involved in the remaining matches of the season against Blackburn and Fulham."
