Wenger wants more goals from Nasri

Arsčne Wenger is hoping that young midfielder Samir Nasri can add more goals to his array of skills.

Wenger sees the 22-year-old as the ideal replacement for Robért Píres, who was prolific from midfield for the Gunners.

The manager believes Nasri has had a good season for Arsenal, considering the injury problems that disrupted the start of his campaign.

He said: "Nasri is like Píres. I believe he is a hard worker, a good dribbler and a very interesting player because he has the combination of qualities that are quite exceptional. He has had a good season.

"Robert is a good target for him because if he can score the number of goals Píres scored then he will be an exceptional player."

Nasri has played in a number of positions in midfield and attack since joining Arsenal from Marseille in 2008, and Wenger has suggested that in the future he will make his mark as a wide player, largely due to the competition for places in the middle of the park.

"Nasri has played more in midfield because we lost Cesc Fabregas and he is the one who can play in this role. But I see Nasri in a wide role [in the future] because he has the tricks, the pace and don't forget that Fabregas plays in the central role."
