Samir Nasri has lamented his injury problems that kept him out of action at the start of the season.
After an impressive debut campaign at the Emirates, Nasri had been hoping to kick on and become an integral part of Arsène Wenger's plans.
However, the Frenchman broke his leg in pre-season for Arsenal, and regrets that it slowed down his progress in English football.
He told Arsenal TV Online: "I've been frustrated, missing the first four or five months of the season after breaking my leg. It's only the last couple of months where I've felt better physically.
"After the first season I wanted to kick on, but unfortunately I got the injury which hampered my progress in adapting to English football."
The 22-year-old still feels, however, that both he and the team have made some improvement this year.
He said: "I know the league better now and I feel more confident on the pitch this season.
"I hope we'll pick up a trophy next season! We've done better this time in that we were in the running for the title until the games against Tottenham and Wigan.
"We've made progress and shown more maturity in our play, and I really hope we can go for the title next season, because we have got the quality that you need.
"I really want to have good season next season for Arsenal."
The midfielder has also called for his manager to stick with the current crop of players for the future, rather than dipping into the transfer market, believing that all Arsenal need is a bit more luck with injuries.
He said: "We're getting there gradually and we can compete for the top prizes. With a full squad we would've gone closer in the league. You have to take that into account."
