Carlos Vela is keen to prove a point to Arsenal fans next season, after a difficult year with injury.
The young Mexican has hardly featured for Arsène Wenger's side this season, and has put this down to misfortune with injuries.
The striker admits that these problems have had a negative effect on his confidence.
Speaking to Arsenal TV Online, he said: "To be honest this season's not gone very well for me. Personally, I feel that my season has been punctuated by my injury problems, which have hampered my training and my fitness, all meaning that I didn't play much. All this is something I did not forsee happening.
"When you're struggling for fitness and have these injury problems, as you can imagine, you don't play much. It becomes hard and your overall fitness suffers. I've had to work very hard to overcome this."
Vela went on to say that he is confident he can recover from this disappointment, with playing time at the World Cup and the confidence from his manager playing big roles.
He said: "I also think you learn a lot during the bad times. This experience will help me and I think I'll become better for it next season.
"Until this season I haven't had too many problems and I've played regularly. Next year I will work harder and I intend to use the holiday to get fit. I think I've got the ability and I will work hard to show that.
"I think the World Cup will give me the platform to show what I can do and I will take this into next season.
"The manager has got faith in what I can do and what I have shown. My contract has tied me down for a few years and I would like to replay this with a good season next season."
