It seems that midfielder Fran Merida has taken the decision to leave Arsenal to return to Spain.
Merida's agent, Joséba Diaz, revealed that the Spaniard would be signing for La Liga club Atletico Madrid, and that his decision was based purely on footballing reasons.
The 20-year-old has struggled to break into the first team at Arsenal, and is out of contract in the summer.
Diaz said: "Fran's decision is based purely on sporting questions and not money."
Merida joined Arsenal in 2006 from Barcelona, and has demonstrated that he has the talent to succeed in the top-level when he's appeared for the club.
He joined Real Sociedad on loan in 2008, but had only made five appearances in the Premier League last season.
