Midfielder Fran Merida has completed his signing to Europa League champions Atletico Madrid on a free transfer.
Speculation from the Spaniard's agent last week all but confirmed Merida's desire to move away from the Emirates.
This was initially reported as speculation, but a report from UEFA underlined the former Barcelona midfielder's new four year agreement with Madrid.
Merida joined Arsenal in 2005, but found it difficult to force his way into the first team. He then spent the second half of the 2007/08 season on-loan to Real Sociedad, where he made 17 appearances, scoring one goal.
It was thought that next year would be his year at the club, after impressive showings in certain games this season.
Merida will be officially unveiled as an Atletico Madrid player during a ceremony at Vicente Calderon on Friday.
Arsenal Mania wishes Fran Merida all the best in his new career in Spain.
