Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer has denied that there had been contact from Arsenal for his services, and the 37-year-old has instead insisted that he is happy at Craven Cottage.
Transfer reports are emerging that manager Arsène Wenger is on the lookout for a new number one, after less than confident performances from Manuel Almunia and Lukasz Fabianski.
Having conceded 41 goals this season, there is a definite requirement to strengthen the defence, especially the position between the sticks.
Australian international Schwarzer is believed to be in the frame due to his considerable Premiership experience, but it seems that there has been no approach from the club for his signature.
Schwarzer said: "I haven't heard anything other than what's been said or written in the papers, so it's purely speculative at the moment.
"I've got another year left on my contract at Fulham and I've really enjoyed my time there. I see my future at the moment with Fulham.
"I don't see anything changing unless someone tells me otherwise."
Wenger's comments on Manuel Almunia's future a few weeks ago started a flurry of rumours over the long-term career of the Spaniard at the club.
The 32-year-old's future at the club is now in doubt, after Wenger stopped short of supporting his number one goalkeeper.
Almunia has been under fire this season for a number of high-profile gaffes, with many of us feeling that he is simply not good enough for a club challenging for the league title.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference to Mirror Football, Wenger said: "I never said that he will be my long-term number one.
"He is a great goalkeeper and he is in competition with Lukasz Fabianski.
"So I want to see how we finish now so I don't think it is the best period to talk about individual players.
"We have looked vulnerable at times defensively."
