We'll never have heard him talk so much.
Arsène's always been fairly constrained in his talking to the media. The weekly press conference has been his primary point of contact – he's never rocked up on Match of the Day's sofa or in the guest's chair for England games. He does go back to France for big tournaments.
But this World Cup is different – he's more visible than he's ever been.
I'm not sure why. His Castrol work, as a brand ambassador, has often been a source of transfer rumours, linking us to players he makes nice noises about and fuelling blog and media noise.
I can't remember him talking about players the way he's talked about Pienaar, who I don't think we'll buy, when he's said he'd get in the Arsenal team. I can't remember him being so jovial about a player like Joe Cole who we seem almost certain to be trying to lure.
And all the while he's doing that, Peter Hill-Wood is happily revealing that we've made an offer for Mark Schwarzer.
When did Arsenal become so transparent? This is not the club that never comments on transfer rumours, or reveals how much it pays for players. This isn't the closed shop we're used to.
Behind this must, in part, sit a PR strategy guided by Gazidis to improve relations with angsty fans at a time when realistically no actual transfer business can take place. Because by talking so much and so often, Arsène is giving us something to talk about, when in Arsenal world there's nothing to talk about at all.
And having that something to talk about gives us hope that when the World Cup is over, some of these players that Arsène's so happily talking about become Arsenal players and deliver us the trophy we need.
I hope they do!
