Arsenal drew both of its matches on the opening day of the World Cup finals in South Africa.
Carlos Vela, playing for Mexico against hosts South Africa, managed to salvage a draw after going behind in the first half.
Vela actually had the ball in the net, the first goal of the tournament, but was correctly ruled offside. The Mexicans however, were very cautious and didn't live up to their reputation for trickery and flair.
Three other Arsenal players, Bacary Sagna, Abou Diaby and William Gallas, represented France in the second match of the day, playing out a 0-0 draw with 10-men Uruguay.
France traditionally have a good record against South American teams, but couldn't find a way past an organised Uruguay defence who had a player sent off late in the second half.
Former Arsenal player Thierry Henry also featured, taking a free kick in the dying seconds of the match, but it met with a brilliant defensive header cleared by the wall.
