Andrey Arshavin believes it would be a big blow if Arsenal were to lose Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona.
The Arsenal captain is a top target of the Spanish champions, and is rumoured to be unhappy at a lack of silverware at his current club.
Arshavin himself has admitted it would be a dream to play for Barca, but hopes Fabregas will turn them down and stay in London.
He said: "As an Arsenal player, I like him a lot and we need him because he is our best player and our captain.
"But it is his decision. In modern football everyone goes somewhere and most clubs sell their players, but personally I would like him to stay."
Meanwhile, Emmanuel Eboue is looking forward to a big match for his country in today's World Cup game with Portugal.
Eboue and the Ivory Coast are in a difficult group with Portugal and Brazil, and the defender believes it is vital for his team to get off to a good start today.
He said: "We have to play Brazil, Portugal and North Korea. We will go there to do our best but it will be very difficult. We want to show everybody that we can do well.
"In the tournament the first game is very, very important so it will be good if we play well and get a good result.
"We know it will be very difficult against Brazil [in the second game]. But I believe in my team and I believe in myself, so I think we can do something."
