It looks like our French Gunners may be going on their summer holidays soon as they slumped to a 2-0 defeat to Mexico last night.
The match was of particular interest to Arsenal fans, as Carlos Vela took on colleagues William Gallas, Bacary Sagna and Abou Diaby. Gaël Clichy was on the French bench.
It was the first time that the Mexicans had beaten the French, and based on their performance last night, they deserved nothing less.
France were disorganised and toothless, with Mexico constantly threatening with their pace upfront. Of course, many would argue that the French don't deserve to be at the World Cup anyway, having qualified via dubious means.
They have yet to score a goal in South Africa, and currently lie third in Group A with 1 point. Uruguay and Mexico lead the group with 4 points each.
The result means if Mexico avoid defeat to Uruguay on Tuesday they will proceed to the last 16.
There was some worry for Arsenal fans however, as Vela had to withdraw from the match with what looked like a hamstring injury.
Manager Arsène Wenger previously said that it was important for Vela to have a good World Cup, but the tournament could have come to an end for the young striker.
Wenger said: He needs a good World Cup. He had good preparation games but maybe he missed a little bit in the opening match.
"For me it is very interesting to see our players in a different context and when they play against each other it is even more interesting for me."
