Song coming home as Bendtner shines

Midfielder Alex Song's World Cup is soon to be over after Cameroon lost a pulsating match 2-1 to Denmark over the weekend.

It was all going well for Cameroon, who needed to win to have any chance of qualifying for the knockout rounds, as they opened the scoring to lead 1-0.

But a swift break from the Danes ended with Nicklas Bendtner finding the back of the Cameroon net with a tap-in from a Dennis Rommerdahl cross, before Rommerdahl himself scored the winning goal, with Bendtner providing the assist.

Cameroon pushed hard for an equaliser, with Song playing the full 90 minutes, but were unable to equalise and prevent themselves being the first team to be eliminated from the 2010 World Cup.

Denmark currently lie third in Group E with three points, and will qualify for the next round should they beat second-placed Japan later this week.
