French Gunners sent home after World Cup failure

Some may argue that they didn't deserve to be in South Africa anyway, and it seems that karma has indeed had the final word.

France were sent packing home yesterday after a 2-1 defeat to hosts South Africa, which obviously wasn't enough to take them through to the next stage of the World Cup finals.

The French were beset with internal problems, with some senior players threatening a boycott of the match due to the way the French Football Federation dealt with issues within the squad.

Gaël Clichy, Abou Diaby, William Gallas and Bacary Sagna started the match against South Africa, all of whom played the full 90 minutes.

Having just a single point to their name in these finals, France finished bottom of Group A, with Uruguay and Mexico progressing.
