Robin van Persie admits he is disappointed not to be scoring more goals and reaching top form in South Africa.
The striker was brought off in Holland's 2-1 win over Slovakia, as his country progressed to the quarter-finals of the World Cup.
But in four matches so far, the Arsenal man has scored just one goal, and is annoyed at his own form.
He said: "I am not scoring and that eats away at me – at every striker, I think. I've had a few small chances. I just want to score.
"But one thing I learned in England is that you can miss chances or have a bad first touch, but as a striker there will always be another chance."
The 26-year-old added that he felt he deserved more of a chance in the Slovakia game to stay on and make an impact, and was clearly bothered by his manager's decision to take him off early.
He said: "I wanted to finish the game. I thought they would take risks in the last 10 minutes and I wanted to exploit that. I could see spaces opening up and I wanted to use them, so I was a bit shocked when I had to go off."
His Netherlands team-mate Arjen Robben understands van Persie's struggle, but believes it is no disgrace to struggle to score regularly in a World Cup.
He said: "It's difficult for Robin to get free. You are tightly marked at a World Cup, we shouldn't make a big deal out of it."
