Barcelona are stubbornly refusing to give up on their pursuit of captain Cesc Fabregas, saying that the Spanish international has to be a Barcelona player this summer.
The Catalan club have already had one offer rejected by Arsenal, and that was for a sum of €30 million. Arsenal also said that they wouldn't be entertaining any future offers, with manager Arsène Wenger telling French journalists that Fabregas isn't for Barcelona-and-Fabregas.html">sale at any price.
In recent days, Fabregas himself has stated that he never had any intentons of leaving Arsenal, and that he was proud to have been nominated club captain.
Fabregas said: "I haven't said that I will definitely leave Arsenal. Everything is possible. Now I have my head and my focus on the World Cup.
"I am very proud to be captain of Arsenal and I love the club and have respect for them. It gave me such pride to be made captain."
But whilst Barcelona have said that they aren't willing to pay over the odds for the 22-year-old, they are adamant of Fabregas joining them this summer.
New Barcelona president Sandro Rosell said: "We won't pay an unjustified sum. We won't lose our heads over this business."
But vice-president Josép Maria Bartomeu added: "Our objective is for him to become a Barcelona player this summer."
Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola refused to be drawn on the debate, saying: "It's not my business, it's not my job. I'm sorry.
"He's a player for Arsenal, so Wenger has the say. You have to ask them.
"You know him better than me (the British media), you see him each weekend, he's a good player, that's why he is here with the Spanish team and not on his holidays."
