Holland are hoping that it is 'third time lucky' when they take on European champions Spain in the World Cup final this Sunday.
The Dutch have competed in two previous World Cup finals, but lost both of them, and with Spain are considered one of the greatest teams in world football never to have won a World Cup.
And striker Robin van Persie says that his home country have gone 'crazy' with delight.
He said: "I spoke to two friends of mine in Rotterdam and they were trying to explain what it is like. Holland is just upside down. It is unbelievable.
"Everybody is drinking, having fun, swimming in the canals. It is crazy. Everyone is so happy.
"That is what is really nice. With the game we all love we can make people so happy. We just need to push on one more time.
"Then I don't know what will happen."
Neither Spain nor Holland have been crowned world champions before. It means that there will be an eighth name on the golden trophy.
Holland and Spain have never played against one another, so there will be no historical fixtures to try and gauge the outcome of the match, or even to see who will have the upper hand.
The Spanish beat Germany 1-0 in their semi-final match last night to earn their place in the final.
Spain boss Vicente del Bosque said: "Our players carried out their job in a magnificent way.
"But let's think about the game in front of us. We're in good shape physically - let's try to win."
