Wenger's comments about Almunia untrue
We've received communication from the Communications Department at Arsenal Football Club, denying that the comments attributed to manager Arsène Wenger are true.
Reports in the media linked Wenger to comments allegedly made to Kenyan press, saying that he didn't rate goalkeeper Manuel Almunia.
The statement from the club read: "Arsenal Football Club would like to clarify that quotes attributed to Arsène Wenger today (Thursday 8th July 2010) in a Kenyan newspaper are not correct.
"Arsène Wenger did not grant a one-on-one interview to the newspaper and would kindly ask all media not to attribute any quotes from this source to him."
Wenger was reported to have said: "Almunia is a good goalkeeper in training, but he has one major problem.
"He always makes mistakes in the [big] games."
