Manager Arsène Wenger has admitted that he is far from done in the transfer market, saying that he is still looking for at least one more defender.
Frenchman Laurent Koscielny joined the club this week, taking the number 6 shirt which may indicate that he is set to partner Thomas Vermaelen in the centre of defence.
But as a number of defenders have left the club - William Gallas, Sol Campbell, Mikael Silvestre and Philippe Senderos - Wenger feels that there is a need for more strength in-depth in defence.
Wenger said: "We identified Koscielny as a very, very strong centre half.
"He can be an outstanding addition to our team. But it is not over, we are still open to buy.
"We are still on the market for another defensive player because we have the need for one more."
