Cesc Fabregas is eager to play a part for Spain in their World Cup final on Sunday.
The Arsenal captain, who had a great season for his club, has failed to break into the Spanish side at this World Cup, but hopes now his time will come.
The 23-year-old knows he is up against a lot of competition, but is hoping desperately to play in what he believes will be the biggest game of his career.
He said: "I am desperate to play at least some part in tomorrow's game. I can't deny it has hurt not to be in Spain's starting line-ups throughout this tournament.
"But I only have to look at our incredible players - and especially our midfielders - to realise I'm so honoured to be part of this magnificent Spanish side.
"Of course I believe I can play a part in making history for our country, which has never won a World Cup before.
"If I'm lucky enough to get a start, I will give everything I have. But if I have to start on the bench, then so be it. All I can pray for is that I get a chance to play some part of this unbelievable game."
The midfielder believes that winning the World Cup, especially helping Spain to do it for the first time, would top any of the trophies on offer at club level.
He added: "Yes, we all want to win the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, the Champions League and all the other big tournaments.
"But representing your country is the ultimate honour for any player - and to do it at the World Cup is unbeatable."
