After hearing again about Bolton's keen interest to bring Jack Wilshere back to the Reebok on loan, I was wondering if we could persuade them to take another one of our young Englishmen instead.
I'm talking, of course, about the ever-frustrating Theo Walcott. There are endless debates among Arsenal fans about what to do with Theo, and from what I can see a loan move would be ideal for both parties.
Currently, there can be no dispute that he is simply not good enough to be playing regularly for Arsenal. Of course some people will throw up the argument that he's been injured far too regularly for us to tell how good he really is, but van Persie spends the majority of every season injured and you can still tell he's a fine footballer, unlike Walcott who barely looks like a footballer at all.
I said earlier last season that there has been too much spotlight on Walcott at Arsenal, being the only high profile English player, and an escape from that would probably do him some good. And at somewhere like Bolton, where he would be guaranteed more regular football, maybe we could see him settle a bit and start to find some confidence.
Wilshere, on the other hand, could make an impact at Arsenal next season, so I'd really like to see him stay and fight for his place. There are quite a few positions in midfield and upfront that he could challenge for, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he could get himself ahead of passengers like Diaby, Denilson and Nasri in the pecking order. I hope the boss considers it.
As for today, could we have hoped for a better World Cup final draw? Two great footballing nations looking to win it for the first time. History will be made at the final whistle, and that's what the World Cup is about.
I am worried, however, that we could see quite a nervy game. Arguably, neither side has really got going in the tournament. Holland have been gritty, while Spain have been a bit slow and one-dimensional. And with such pressure on their shoulders tonight, I wouldn't be surprised if the players continued in this cautious fashion. With both teams having waited such a long time for this moment, neither will want to risk being out of it early on.
My personal preference would be for the Netherlands to finally win it. They've lost two finals before and losing a third would be a depressing record. Spain, on the other hand, have won it all recently - Euro 2008, and all the Barcelona success, whose players make up the majority of the Spain team.
And Fabregas needs to know that these Barca boys aren't invincible.
