Arsène Wenger has ruled out an Arsenal bid for highly-rated Bordeaux man Yoann Gourcuff.
The Gunners have been linked with a move for a new midfielder, with Gourcuff rumoured to be high on Wenger's list, but much of Arsenal's spending in that area rests on the future of Cesc Fabregas.
The Arsenal manager seems confident of fighting off Barcelona's moves for his captain, and sees no need to add more firepower to his midfield.
On Gourcuff, he said: "We are not interested. I like Gourcuff a lot, but we already have sufficient cover in midfield."
Another big name being linked with a move to the Emirates is German World Cup star Mesut Ozil, but the young midfielder has pledged his future to current club Werder Bremen.
Ozil, who is also a target for Manchester United and Barcelona, said: "Bremen want me to fulfil the contract and so do I. I have always said that I want to fulfil my contract, that is important to me."
Meanwhile, a player that could be making a move is Sol Campbell, who is a target for Sunderland manager Steve Bruce.
Bruce explained: "I have known Sol Campbell for a lot of years and it was nice to see him. We had a catch up to see what his ideas are and what he is up to.
"It was pretty positive stuff and we will see what happens there."
