Udinese goalkeeper Samir Handanovic's agent has confirmed that the highly-rated Slovenian international would consider a move to Arsenal.
Federico Pastorelli denied however, that an approach had already been made by us for his client's services, and it's difficult to imagine Udinese letting him go easily after his performances in the World Cup.
A number of other European clubs are tracking the 25-year-old stopper, one of those being Bayern Munich. Pastorelli admits that whilst a move to Germany would be attractive, Arsenal was preferable.
Pastorelli said: "No, absolutely not [Arsenal have not made an offer].
"I received a couple of calls from colleagues in Italy asking me about Arsenal, but the rumours are wrong because I have not received any phone calls from the club.
"Nobody from Arsenal has called me and I checked with Udinese and they told me nobody from Arsenal had called them. In this case I would say the rumours were rubbish.
"He is a top class goalkeeper and Arsenal is looking for a top goalkeeper, but I cannot confirm that they are interested.
"It is quite clear that to move away from Udinese it would have to be a top club, and I would say there are only eight clubs who he would want to sign for, and Arsenal is a top club."
Manager Arsène Wenger is under increasing pressure from the fans to sign a replacement for error-prone Manuel Almunia and Lukasz Fabianski, both of whom didn't impress at all last season.
Wenger has strengthened in attack and defence, but the fans are also hoping for an international class midfielder to partner Cesc Fabregas, and an international class keeper.
