Midfielder Jack Wilshere is looking forward to the inaugural Emirates Cup, believing that how Arsenal perform in the competition will help define their season.
We won the competition last year, and whilst that helped sustain a title challenge which many didn't think was coming, it's certainly no indication of how long we'll last in the title race.
Arsenal welcome AC Milan, Celtic and Olympique Lyonnais to Emirates Stadium on July 31 and August 1.
More importantly, Wilshere is hoping that the Emirates Cup will provide him with his chance to shine in front of manager Arsène Wenger, after having spent most of last season on-loan to Bolton Wanderers.
Wilshere said: "It can help set the tone for your season. A good performance at the Emirates Cup can help put you in the manager's mind.
"It's a chance to show what you can do against some of the best clubs. It's good for the younger players too. They can make an impact in front of the manager.
"As a young player you always want to take your chance and the Emirates Cup is really good for that.
"It is a good tournament. It is good for families to come and watch some of the best teams and some of the best players and it always has a really good atmosphere."
