Chamakh opens his Arsenal account

New signing Marouane Chamakh opened his Arsenal account by scoring from the penalty spot in last night's 4-0 win over SC Neusiedl.

Striker Theo Walcott opened the scoring in a first half dominated by the Gunners, with reserve striker Jay Emmanuel-Thomas doubling the lead two minutes later.

Midfielder Samir Nasri was once again the influential playmaker in the Cesc Fabregas role, and was the one who provided the assist for Walcott.

Emmanuel-Thomas' was a well-taken goal, scoring from a cute cutback by left-back Kieran Gibbs.

Chamakh was then introduced in the second half and made an immediate impact, being pushed over in the penalty area and scoring from the spot.

Mexican Carlos Vela, having returned to pre-season training after international duty at the World Cup, capping the 4-0 rout in the second half with a chip over the goalkeeper.

There was also some impressive goalkeeping as Vito Mannone saved a late penalty from Juray Skripec.
