Wenger: We have put a lot of work into Cesc

Arsène Wenger insists he is not ready to let his influential captain Cesc Fabregas leave the club.

The midfielder is wanted by Spanish giants Barcelona, and Fabregas himself is rumoured to be keen on the move away from London.

But Wenger does not want to lose a player whom he believes to be the future of the club.

Fabregas joined Arsenal as a 16-year-old and made a rapid rise to the first-team in his late teens, quickly becoming one of the team's most important players, and the Frenchman believes Arsenal have invested a lot in their skipper.

He said: "I am very happy with Cesc and we are all very happy at the Club with Cesc.

"He is a very important player for us, he is our captain and we have worked very hard [for him] to be the future of our team and that is why we are always adamant about [not] letting him go."

Barcelona's players have been vocal in their desire for Fabregas to join them at the Nou Camp this summer, but Wenger insists Arsenal are not in talks with the Spanish champions, and won't be listening to any offers.

He said: It is only noise. In our job we have to deal with what we can master. What we cannot influence is not to worry about.

"We have learned about that and I believe that in a big club you have to live with those kind of noises without being disturbed."
