Bacary Sagna believes it is vitally important that Cesc Fabregas stays at Arsenal for at least another season.
The club captain is constantly being linked with a return to his former employers Barcelona, who have already had a bid for the Spaniard rejected this summer.
Fabregas has not denied claims that he too wants a move away, but Sagna hopes the midfielder will stick around, as he is vital to the success of the team.
He said: "Things can happen in football. Maybe Cesc will leave, maybe he will stay, but at the moment he is still an Arsenal player, we need him for the future.
"We have to accept everything and adapt. Of course we all want him to stay. He knows what is best for him. I think everyone will approve his decision but everyone wants him to stay. It will be a big loss if he leaves."
Manager Arsène Wenger is also keen for Fabregas to stay, and believes the 23-year-old needs to confirm his commitment to the club publicly, to put an end to the constant rumours.
He said: "The speculation does not stop. Who can stop the speculation? Only Cesc maybe, I don't know, maybe not even Cesc. But that is how I feel."
Fabregas has not yet returned for pre-season training with Arsenal, having won the World Cup with Spain only weeks ago.
