Johan Djourou is impressed with what he has seen of new signing Marouane Chamakh so far.
The striker joined Arsenal on a free from Bordeaux earlier in the summer, and scored his first goal at the Emirates yesterday in a 1-1 friendly draw with AC Milan.
Djourou thought the new boy played well, and that he has the quality to add something different to Arsenal's game this season.
Speaking to Arsenal TV Online, he said: "He's a good player. He can add a lot with his presence. He's a big guy, good with his feet, powerful, good in the air, so he can add a lot."
Djourou was also impressed with new defensive signing Laurent Koscienly, but was left concerned with the manner in which Arsenal conceded the equalising goal to Milan.
He said: "It's better that it happened today than in the first game against Liverpool - we can work on it in the last two weeks before the season starts. These things happen and we need to work on it to be ready for the season.
"Overall we played quite well today, the team was very sharp. We had some good movement and good play."
Djourou will be looking to provide depth in Arsenal's ever-thinning defence this season, and admits he was surprised to be played in midfield yesterday.
He said: "I've played there before, but it was a long time ago now. I'm not used to it anymore, but I could play there.
"The boss said I'll be in my normal position tomorrow."
