Johan Djourou is feeling in determined mood to come back strongly from his injury and help Arsenal win something this season.
The Swiss defender missed last season with a knee injury, and admits he has a lot to prove now as he aims to come back.
Four centre-backs have left Arsenal this summer and Djourou hopes this will present him the opportunity to play regularly for Arsène Wenger's team.
Speaking to Arsenal TV Online, he said: "I've been away for a long time because of my knee injury, but I feel a lot better and a lot stronger, so I just have to prove I can play week in, week out.
"It was difficult lying down and watching the guys play last season, so now I'm really up for it and ready for the season."
Djourou is confident that this Arsenal side has the quality to win the league or the Champions League, but that the ambitious talk has to turn into results at some stage.
He said: "I think the squad is ready, we had a couple of good games in Austria and again today. We want to get the season started.
"Now is time for us to really deliver. We've been saying this for years now and it's difficult, because when you're a player you want to win trophies and we've been missing that little bit.
"Hopefully now we can say we are ready and push for first place and for the Champions League. The team's got the quality for it, but now's the time to prove it."
