Arsène Wenger has conceded that he is still one or two signings away from being satisfied with the quality of his squad.
The manager has admitted he is keen to add one more defender to his squad, and is also under pressure from some sections of supporters to sign a goalkeeper.
Wenger hinted that he was pleased with the way his goalkeepers performed in the Emirates Cup, but he was giving little away in terms of speculation on specific targets.
After the game with Celtic, he said: "We have a squad who is used to playing together and you can see that when you play football; everybody is on the same wavelengths and wants to play the same game. For me we are 90 per cent there.
"We still need a centre half of course. We are still short number wise. Just number wise. [We need] at least one. We had enough players out - we lost a few players. In, ideally we still want one or two players."
However, the Frenchman admitted that he is currently not close to signing anyone in particular, and does not want to name names in fear of raising their market value.
He said: "I cannot promise you that because we are not close to signing anybody.
"I would not like to come out on names because it raises the price straight away by 50 per cent."
Wenger added that Man City have shown the importance of spending money well, as he tips Roberto Mancini and his new recruits to be contenders for the title this year.
He added: "I believe that with the amount of money they spent they will be a competitor for the title.
"If you look at the quality of players they have bought they have top quality, so you expect them to be there."
