Manager Arsène Wenger has said that Russian playmaker Andrey Arshavin can be his team's fulcrum this season.
The Russian international was pretty average last season, mainly due to injuries, and failed to reproduce his scintillating form from his first season at the club.
Wenger also revealed that there was perhaps some emotional fallout due to Russia's failure to qualify for the World Cup finals in South Africa, but that's behind Arshavin now.
The Frenchman is now relying on Arshavin to raise his game and be the fulcrum in Arsenal's attack, much like former striker Dennis Bergkamp.
Wenger said: "It was a massive blow for him to go out of the World Cup with Russia.
"He also had an end of season which was disturbed by many injuries.
"But what I expect from him [this season] is that if he remains completely fit he can give the team everything.
"With his creative side he can be decisive, create chances and score goals. That is what you want from him."
