Diaby grateful injury was not more serious

Midfielder Abou Diaby says that he is relieved he didn't suffer a more serious injury in Arsenal's 4-1 win over Bolton Wanderers.

The Frenchman was the victim of a reckless tackle by full back Paul Robinson, but scans have revealed that the injury was not as bad as initially feared.

Diaby will miss the season's Champions League opener against SC Braga, and will almost definitely be unavailable for the weekend's match against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

In fact, it might only be the start of October before Gooners see Diaby take to the pitch again, and with the current injury list, it's not a luxury we have.

Diaby said: "I will miss our first game in the Champions League but to be honest I am lucky to only miss two or three games, I really thought I would be out for a long time.

"Bolton is a very physical team and to be honest the tackle was a strong one, but it is Premier League football, people are committed, so it is fine for me.

"I hope the team start the Champions League with a victory, the first game in any competition is always very important."
