Midfielders Tomas Rosicky and Samir Nasri have revealed the penalty taking situation at the club, especially with captain Cesc Fabregas being unavailable due to injury.
With normal penalty takers Fabregas and Robin van Persie out injured, Rosicky was the appointed penalty taker, but he failed to score in the 1-1 draw against Sunderland.
Nasri then scored two penalties in the 4-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Carling Cup, and in the post-match interview, said: "The boss told me that I would be taking the next penalty, so I did."
As Rosicky himself was off the pitch when the two penalties were awarded at White Hart Lane, it is unclear whether Nasri has indeed been appointed the next penalty taker at the club.
Regardless, it seems that the Czech international will be stepping down as a penalty taker.
Rosicky said: "He [Nasri] took both penalties great so I think [I will stand down].
"I took the ball [against Sunderland] and spoke with Samir and Marouane Chamakh and they both weren't sure about it - so I said I will take it.
"But Samir took them well against Tottenham so that's the end of the story I would say."
