Manager Arsène Wenger has refused to blame goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski for the goal that Arsenal conceded in their 4-1 win over local rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
With the game finely poised at 1-1, Arsenal eventually won 4-1 after extra time, courtesy of two well-taken penalties from Samir Nasri and another excellent goal from Andrey Arshavin.
Fabianski has failed to instil confidence in the Arsenal faithful after a string of high profile errors last season, and despite getting a hand to striker Robbie Keane's shot, he failed to prevent it from entering the goal.
Wenger says that Fabianski should not be blamed for conceding the goal, saying that it was a goal that should have been allowed anyway, with Keane incorrectly being flagged onside.
Wenger said: "You can't blame him for that goal because he touched it and when a goalkeeper touches the ball you always think he should stop it.
"But if he dives and doesn't touch it nobody speaks about it.
"First of all, the goal was offside and apart from that I think he had a sound game."
