Former midfielder Robért Píres, currently training with Arsenal, is reminiscing about the last game at Highbury, which was against Wigan Athletic.
It was a game which Arsenal won 4-2, courtesy of a hat trick by striker Thierry Henry.
It was a game of nerves, as Arsenal were in danger of missing out on Champions League qualification if rivals Tottenham Hotspur won their match against West Ham.
As it turns out, Spurs lost against West Ham (most of their first team were decimated by food poisoning), and Arsenal secured the necessary three points.
Speaking to Arsenal TV Online, Píres said: "We knew the game against Wigan would be a special occasion.
"Because it was our final game at Highbury and it was the end of a chapter for the Club.
"It was a really, really emotional occasion and it was good to finish on a high by beating Wigan.
"One really strong image at the end of the game for me was Thierry Henry, Ashley Cole and me staying on the pitch.
"We didn't want to leave, because Highbury was part of us.
"We had such an incredible memories of the place that we just wanted to stay there, because for us and I imagine for most Arsenal supporters that will always be Arsenal's true stadium."
