Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour believes the ability to grind out results when playing badly is what currently seperates the Gunners from their rivals.
The Arsenal legend points to Man Utd, who have started the season in rather indifferent form, but still remain undefeated.
As a member of the famous Invincibles side of 2004, Parlour knows the importance of scraping hard-fought wins even when the team is not at its best.
He explained: "Arsenal have got the players, but it's like a jigsaw and it's about putting it all together. When they get it all together they're a top side, but if a few pieces are missing they come up short.
"If Arsenal have three or four players who have off days then they can get beat, but the likes of Man United and Chelsea nick results out of nothing.
"When Arsenal play poorly, the lose the game. Man United have not played well yet, but they keep getting results."
Arsenal have already lost twice at home this season, and Parlour believes that is another cause for concern.
He added: "You've got to keep winning at home. If they're to have any chance to win the Premier League they can't keep dropping points at the Emirates. It could really affect them."
