Defender Laurent Koscielny's appeal against the red card he received in the 1-0 defeat by Newcastle United has been upheld by the Football Association.
The Frenchman was adjudged to have committed a professional foul when he brought down Newcastle striker Nile Ranger.
The defender will thus serve a two match ban with immediate effect. The ban is for two matches as this is Koscielny's second dismissal of the season.
An FA statement confirming the ruling, read: "At an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today, a claim for wrongful dismissal from Arsenal's Laurent Koscielny was rejected.
"As a result, Koscielny will serve a two-match suspension with immediate effect as this was his second dismissal of the season.
"Koscielny was dismissed for the denial of an obvious goalscoring opportunity against Newcastle on 7 November."
The ban means Koscielny will miss tomorrow night's game against Wolverhampton Wanderers and this weekend's trip to Everton.
