Winger Robért Píres signed for Aston Villa on a free transfer yesterday.
The Frenchman, who won two Premier League titles and three FA Cups with Arsenal, enjoyed a spell in Spain playing for Villarreal before being released this summer.
The 1998 World Cup winner, dubbed 'Super Bob' by the Emirates faithful, has been training with the club the last few months to maintain match fitness.
Villa manager Gerard Houllier is currently short of options in midfield due to injuries and Píres could be thrown into action quickly.
Villa assistant manager Gary McAllister said: "Robert has been training at Arsenal.
"I know the boss and Arsčne Wenger are very friendly and I believe he's going to join us in the next two or three days.
"It's perfect. I am sure he will arrive at the training ground in good condition. He's a player everyone can look up to because of what he has achieved."
Aston Villa named only 22 players in the squad submitted to the Premier League on 1st September and as a free agent Píres is eligible to be added for immediate inclusion.
