Bacary Sagna has praised his Arsenal team-mate Kieran Gibbs after the two played against each other in a friendly between England and France last night.
Sagna got an assist in an impressive display from the French, which saw them win 2-1 at Wembley. Samir Nasri and Theo Walcott also featured, while Gaël Clichy was on the bench for Laurent Blanc's side.
Gibbs was making only his second appearance for the senior England side, and has found first-team games for Arsenal hard to come by this season, but nevertheless Sagna feels he showed why he is regarded as such a hot prospect for the future.
He said: "He did very well because it was his first or second appearance so English people can be proud of him.
"For me he will be the next English left back. He's only 21 and he can improve a lot. He is already a top-class player and has great potential.
"I'm quite proud to see him playing the way he did. I know he is great player and he is a great left back.
"He always gives 100 per cent and he deserved to start. I think he did quite well. [France] found it difficult to go through the left side. His pace caused us problems going forward in the second half."
