Bendtner appreciative of what he's achieved

Outrageously confident striker Nicklas Bendtner was surprisingly appreciative of his career in football in his latest interview.

The Danish international, usually coming off as arrogant, explained that being a professional footballer didn't really hit him until clubs like Arsenal got in touch for his services.

Bendtner said: "For me it was just football and I enjoyed it. When I was 15, it was the first time I started to get paid, getting like 100 pounds a month. It was amazing.

"I always knew I was a good player and could progress in football but I didn't know everything that came with it.

"But when Arsenal and all the big clubs came in for me I started to realise.

"When you think about it, there's very very few people who actually make it to where they want to be.

"You should think about how many football players are out there and it's not many who actually make it.

"I think it's dedication and you need to be selfish, it's a selfish world to get to the top and you got to put anything in your power to get there."
