Marouane Chamakh admits he is flattered to be compared to Chelsea striker and Arsenal arch-nemesis Didier Drogba.
Like Drogba, Chamakh is a tall and strong African striker who played in the French league before moving to English football.
Chamakh has had an encouraging start to his Arsenal career since moving across the channel this summer, and says he hopes to emulate the success Drogba has had at Stamford Bridge.
He said: "It is very flattering to be compared with Drogba, even though I know I am far from being at his level.
"His legacy in France is immense — he has always been a fantastic competitor, a very hard worker and he had a great season at Marseille. I think he has been through a lot but shown honesty in all he has done and shown that if you work hard, you can reach your goals. I have the greatest of respect for him and what he has achieved even though he went through some tough times. For strikers he is a role model.
"He has had extraordinary success and as an Ivory Coast player and African man, it makes me even happier to see him succeed and get rewarded for his hard work. I wish him lots of happiness and hope that one day I will get to his level, even though he has set the bar very high."
