The Gunners responded to a poor showing at Old Trafford two weeks earlier to beat champions Chelsea 3-1 at the Emirates, with Djourou impressing in central defence.
The Swiss centre-back has recovered well from a season-long injury last year, and was pleased to keep Didier Drogba quiet and win an important game.
He said: "It was a massive win. We talk about winning the big games and today we gave a great response after the Manchester United game because we haven't played since so it was good to do a good performance. It's not just the win but the way the team played, the whole team was just fantastic.
"We talked about not beating big teams but it wasn't something which got into our head because we know we are good enough to do it. It's that sometimes small details made the difference so I think today the team responded well, everything was in tune.
"I'm very proud Drogba didn't score. He had a good record against us in the past few games so we can be proud of ourselves that he didn't score and especially that we won the game. It was only the defence because the whole team defended as a unit today."
Djourou also hopes Arsenal can go to Wigan tonight and show that the performance wasn't a one-off.
He added: "Now it's just about keep on going, since the beginning of the season we always were there with some little bumps along the road but the team has responded well and now it's Wigan in mid-week is going to be very important for us.
"We have a good record away from home so we just have to keep going."
